Start with a current picture of the house
Share when you moved, whether anyone has been staying there and when the property was last checked. Existing photographs can help, but label them with an approximate date. Mention changes since those pictures were taken so the discussion starts with the same understanding.
Decide what still needs your attention
List belongings you want to collect, services that remain active and any work already scheduled. Separate essential responsibilities from improvements you were considering only to prepare a listing. Asking about an as-is purchase does not require completing a renovation first.
Name a practical point of contact
A nearby relative, manager or other trusted person may be able to help with a visit. Make clear what that person is authorized to do. Coordinating access is different from negotiating terms or approving a sale on your behalf.
Confirm timing before planning a return trip
Explain your preferred schedule and any fixed commitments. The property review, inspection, title work and agreed terms will determine what is possible. Ask the closing office about signing arrangements before booking travel around an assumed closing date.
